From 1 – 9 April, Alserkal celebrates the diversity of our city by coming together to share and listen to today’s cultural stories. Each night, visitors at the Avenue are invited to connect with the community, to break their fast and then stay a little longer.
Pair your suhoor with a screening, or your Iftar with a poetry reading, this Ramadan. From iftar to suhoor, there is plenty to enjoy for all.

Shereen Saif, a Dubai-based Indian-born artist with a practice that spans dance, theatre, storytelling, voice acting and installation art brings her Storytelling Series to Alserkal. Shereen is known for her physical storytelling style that integrates elements of music, dance and theatre. She is a passionate advocate of oral storytelling with a rich repertoire of traditional folk and mythological tales from India.
Danabelle Gutierrez, a multi-award-winning artist, writer, actress and photographer, entertains visitors with her unique poetry performances. She is the author of & Until the Dreams Come and I Long To Be The River and chapbooks Eventually, The River Surrenders and Softer. Born in Las Piñas, raised in Cairo, Vienna, and Muscat, Gutierrez’s current work is centered on identity and its relation to locus and the concept of home.
Other activities that add to the spirit of togetherness include live music by a handpan orchestra, coffee-making workshops, Slow Art Walks in different languages, and gift exchanges at the Faire Trade barter pop-up.
Take a seat, make yourself at home, have some atayef while they are still warm, and experience Ramadan through the eyes of others, together.
