Oman to reopen for quarantine-free travel from 1 September

Oman quarantine-free

Oman will reopen its borders for quarantine-free travel to fully vaccinated visitors for the first time this year..

From Wednesday 1 September 2021, fully vaccinated Omani citizens, residents with a valid residency permit, those who don’t require a visa to travel to Oman, and those who can obtain a visa on arrival are allowed to travel to the Sultanate of Oman quarantine-free. They will only be able to bypass quarantine provided they can prove their vaccine status and present a negative PCR test.

Arrivals will be required to present a printed vaccine certificate (also known as a Covid passport) containing a QR code stating they’ve completed a full course of a locally approved vaccine at least 14 days before travel. Currently, recognised vaccines include AstraZeneca, Oxford AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Sinovac and Sputnik V. All passengers will also need to present a pre-travel negative PCR test result in Arabic or English, conducted within 96 hours prior to the scheduled time of arrival for international flights longer than eight hours, and 72 hours for any flight under eight hours.

This does not apply to nationals of Oman who, after recovering from COVID-19, have received a positive COVID-19 PCR test result (they must prove that they’ve completed the quarantine period before taking the test) and passengers younger than 16 years.

Travellers must also register with Tarassud+ prior to their arrival, allowing residents and vaccinated visitors to complete their pre-travel details and thus avoid a mandatory quarantine.

Those travelling to Oman without undergoing a pre-flight PCR test will be required to undergo one at the airport, wear the Tarrasud+ tracking bracelet, and quarantine until their negative result is provided. If the result is positive, they must self-isolate for ten days.
