There’s good news for 90s kids as Live Nation Middle East and Bla Bla Dubai have officially announced the return of Mixtape, bringing with it plenty of throwback pop classics. The nostalgia-infused party will take place on 2 November and feature full set performances by a whole host of beloved 90s and noughties artists — S Club, Melanie C, Peter Andre, and Gareth Gates included.
The afternoon-to-night bash is expected to continue into the early hours as Bla Bla’s pool area will be transformed into a vibrant dance floor, making it the ultimate open-air extravaganza, complete with striking views of Ain Dubai. This is the perfect setting to soak up the lively atmosphere as the second edition of Mixtape promises a playlist jam-packed with old-school pop bangers.
Celebrating their 25-year anniversary, S Club will bring their pop legacy and biggest hits to Dubai, performing classics such as “Don’t Stop Movin”, “Never Had a Dream Come True”, and “Bring It All Back”. The pop group rose to fame with four UK number-one singles and four multi-platinum-selling albums, achieving global recognition with nine international number-one singles. The gig will be a celebration of new music, the group’s legacy, and their loyal fans while paying a heartfelt tribute to late band member, Paul Cattermole.
As a member of the Spice Girls, and having branched off into a successful solo career, Melanie C has achieved legendary pop icon status. With her 11 UK number-ones making her one of the most successful music artists of the 90s, Sporty Spice has become the voice of a generation, accumulating an international fan following. Known for her unique vocal prowess, the “Wannabe” singer will light up the Bla Bla stage for what promises to be an unforgettable appearance.
Adding to the excitement of the evening will be Peter Andre, who’s best known for his hit songs “Mysterious Girl” and “Flava”, and has celebrated a long and fruitful career in singing, acting, and reality TV appearances. Having climbed high in the UK charts, the singer has also swooned audiences across Europe and captivated fans by featuring in the likes of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and Strictly Come Dancing.
Finishing off the star-studded line-up is Gareth Gates, a British sensation, who has sold over three million records in the UK. Rising to fame as the runner-up on the first series of Pop Idol, his debut single “Unchained Melody” topped the charts, followed by hits like “Anyone of Us (Stupid Mistake)” and a collaboration with Will Young. Gates also became a star on the West End, featuring in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Les Miserables, while his dynamic career has earned him numerous awards, cementing his status as one of Britain’s most beloved artists.
