Performing on 1 November, the English synth-pop band is returning to Dubai after a decade.
The 80s aren’t back — they never left, and everything from the prevalence of neon hues and teased hair to the enduring appeal of The Human League is proof. The English band, a live favourite in Dubai, is returning for its fifth gig in the city, this time lighting up the stage at Bla Bla on 1 November. Fans of its timeless synth-pop sound will tell you that it’s a long time coming. The trio – Joanne Catherall, Philip Oakey, and Susan Ann Sulle – last performed at The Irish Village back in 2014.
Making a pitstop in Dubai as part of its much-anticipated Generations Tour, the band has influenced generations of fans and musicians alike, continually captivating new audiences with their innovative sounds and unforgettable songs from the 1980s. Famed for their unique blend of electronic pop, unapologetically political lyrics, and groundbreaking style, Oakey and company have left an indelible mark on fashion, sound, and club culture across Europe, the UK, the US, and beyond.
Since its formation in 1978, The Human League has released nine studio albums, including the multi-platinum DARE, four EPs, over 30 singles, and two US #1 hits. They’ve sold more than 25 million records worldwide, creating some of pop music’s most timeless classics — “Don’t You Want Me”, “Human”, “Mirror Man” and “Fascination” included. And with Bla Bla’s pool area transformed into a dance floor for its performance, you can expect to party under the stars well into the night.

Earlier on the unmissable line-up of concerts at Bla Bla, KT Tunstall will kick off the season, performing live on 26 October. Known for her dynamic performances and hits like “Suddenly I See” and “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree”, the Scottish singer promises an intimate evening filled with energy and soul. Further down, the nightlife venue will host the return of the Mixtape festival on 2 November, bringing with it an afternoon-to-night showcase of nineties and noughties pop songs thanks to the likes of S Club, Melanie C, Peter Andre, and Gareth Gates. Let the nostalgia begin.
Starting at AED 215, early bird tickets to The Human League are available via Platinumlist.
