Fans of hip-hop will want to scream and shout (and let it all out) as Will.i.am returns to Dubai for the second edition of Taste of SLS on 4 October. Headlining the event that merges three of life’s most unadulterated pleasures – travel, music and food – the Black Eyed Peas frontman will perform at Privilege, a sky-high nightclub that’s not only perched on the 75th floor of SLS Dubai but also holds the Guinness World Record for the highest overflow swimming pool in the world.
We’re told that this rooftop venue will be transformed into an LED-lit paradise inspired by the glitz and glamour of Miami. And with Will.i.am taking the stage after midnight, Taste of SLS promises to be the hottest night in town. Themed Sounds Around the World, the action will kick off at 7pm on the ground floor at EllaMia, where a DJ will spin the decks at SLS Terminal to set the tone for the night ahead. From there, guests will ascend to the 71st floor and enter Sky Lobby, finding themselves transported to the icy landscapes of Antarctica. A live cutting show of a 120kg bluefin tuna aside, the graceful sounds of a violinist will fill the air as guests enjoy iced drinks while DJ Rodge ignites the crowd with his eclectic beats.
Next, visitors can descend to Europe at Fi’lia on level 70. Here, the charm of the Italian Riviera is set to come alive as diners delight in an Amalfi Spritz welcome drink and indulge in a culinary showcase that spans three generations. You’ll watch as Nonna, Mamma, and Fi’lia herself prepare and serve traditional favourites such as bruschetta, fresh pasta, and the famous Filiamisu while live singers serenade guests with Italian classics. The journey will proceed as partygoers with Premium Economy tickets continue onto level 74, where Smoke & Mirrors will capture the vibrant spirit of South America (salsa and freshly rolled cigars included). Guests can dance the night away with live performances, a DJ, and a drummer as they indulge in a selection from the speakeasy’s signature beverage menu.
Also on level 74? A full-fledged Arabian Night adventure that promises to delight. You’ll be greeted by belly dancers, a DJ, a henna master, and regional delicacies, making for complete immersion. The highlight of the evening will be a surprise live performance by a Lebanese superstar whose name will be kept under wraps until the big night. Book the Business Class package, and you can then roam freely to Carna Steakhouse to rediscover the romantic allure of Italy, this time in Venice. In this intimate setting, the mystery and splendour of the Venetian Carnival will be reflected in a nose-to-tail set menu crafted by legendary butcher Dario Cecchini.
