Coldplay to bring record-breaking world tour to Abu Dhabi

Coldplay - Abu Dhabi

The band’s only regional show will take place at Zayed Sports City Stadium in January.

Coldplay have traversed the globe since March 2022, with their Music of the Spheres World Tour breaking the Guinness World Record for highest-grossing tour of all time — $1.059 billion to be exact. Now, in a historic move, Abu Dhabi has been added to the ongoing tour’s schedule, with the band confirmed to perform at Zayed Sports City Stadium on Saturday 11 January, 2025. And adding to the frenzy around this announcement is the fact that it will be the only city in the Middle East to host the band.

Dubbed “the greatest live music show ever” by The Times, the Music of the Spheres World Tour is the British quartet’s eighth concert tour, earning rave reviews for its feel-good spectacle of familiar melodies, dazzling fireworks, confetti cannons, inflatable planets, and even LED wristbands synchronised with the music’s beat — all enhanced by Chris Martin’s gigawatt energy, of course. It’s essentially one big, fun singalong that has sold over ten million tickets worldwide.

Brought to the UAE by Live Nation – the global producers of the tour – the exclusive performance in Abu Dhabi will be no different, and tickets are bound to sell out fast as fans have been eagerly awaiting Coldplay’s return since 2016, when it took over Etihad Park (formally du Arena) on New Year’s Eve.

Since kicking off, the globe-trotting Music of the Spheres World Tour has thrilled fans across Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, making it the most highly attended tour by a group of all time. Adding to its extensive two and a half year outing, along with Abu Dhabi, the tour is also travelling to Mumbai, Seoul and Hong Kong between January and April of 2025. The dates announced will see the band continuing to make good on their efforts to reach every corner of the globe.

Unsurprisingly, the tour has also picked up accolades such as Favourite Touring Artist at the 2022 AMAs and Tour of The Year at the 2023 iHeartRadio Awards. In addition to performing several hits from their Album of the Year-nominated Music of the Spheres and new singles “We Pray” and “feelslikeimfallinginlove” off their upcoming album Moon Music, the band will incorporate anthems from its incredible catalogue — “Yellow”, “The Scientist”, “Clocks”, “Fix You”, “Paradise”, “A Sky Full of Stars” and “Adventure of a Lifetime” included.

In case you missed it, Moon Music will land on 4 October and notably set new standards for sustainability, as each LP is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles (nine per record). It is available to pre-order now on EcoCD, EcoRecord LP and digital. “I think what this album is about is a response to struggling with all the conflict within oneself, within myself, and also all the conflict outside, and working out what the best response is,” said Chris Martin in a video offering some insight into the album and its accompanying replica of his original studio notebook. “And I think what Moon Music is trying to say is maybe love is the best response.”

The ticket prices have now been revealed and are available in a range of categories, with prices starting at AED195 for standard seating. Additional categories include Bronze (AED295), Silver (AED495), Gold (AED595), Ruby (AED695), and Premium (AED995). General admission standing and restricted view tickets are priced at AED395, while Deluxe tickets are available at AED1,495 for those seeking a more exclusive experience.

Tickets will be available on Live Nation Middle East, and fans can sign up for first access to tickets via the Coldplay presale at www.coldplay.com. The artist presale will begin on 25 September at noon, while the Live Nation pre-sale will begin 24 hours later at www.livenation.me. The general on-sale will begin on 27 September at noon, giving all fans a chance to secure their spot at one of the decade’s most highly anticipated concerts.
