The triple threat will take the Saadiyat Nights stage on Thursday, 20 February.
Get ready to ‘dance again’ as the names at Saadiyat Nights only get bigger and bigger — following performances by the likes of Michael Bublé, Boyz II Men, and Omar Khairat, we now know that Jennifer Lopez is officially on the roster. And while she has performed twice in Dubai, the upcoming show on 20 February will mark her debut in the capital.
JLo fans across the globe will tell you that her concerts are, in one word, unforgettable. A setlist curated around chart-topping tracks – both Latin and otherwise – aside, you can expect theatrical elements ranging from pyrotechnic effects to moving stage platforms as well as captivating choreography routines. Who can forget her recent and rather electrifying return to the stage in Riyadh, where Elie Saab celebrated his 45th anniversary with a grand runway show? Closer to home, her star power will be just as palpable as Lopez has embarked on multiple tours worldwide, co-headlining the Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show alongside Shakira in 2020 included.
The global entertainment icon needs no introduction, but here’s a brief one. Lopez is celebrated for her powerhouse vocals, dynamic stage presence, and acclaimed acting career. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Lopez first gained recognition as a dancer on In Living Color before making her mark in Hollywood with breakthrough roles in Selena (1997), where she portrayed the legendary Tejano singer, and Out of Sight (1998), starring opposite George Clooney.
In 1999, she expanded her talents into music with her debut album On the 6, which featured the timeless single “If You Had My Love”. She quickly rose to prominence as a pop and R&B sensation, delivering hit after hit across multiple albums, including J.Lo (2001), This Is Me… Then (2002), Rebirth (2005), Como Ama una Mujer (2007), Brave (2007), Love? (2011), and A.K.A. (2014).
Her music catalogue includes ten Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, with smash singles such as “I’m Real’, “Ain’t It Funny” featuring Ja Rule, and “All I Have” featuring LL Cool J. Last year, Lopez revisited one of the most personal eras of her career with the release of This Is Me… Now, a musical and emotional sequel to her beloved 2002 album This Is Me… Then. The project was accompanied by an ambitious Amazon Prime Video musical film, This Is Me… Now: A Love Story, blending fantasy, romance, and autobiographical elements in a visually stunning production.
Transforming the capital’s favourite open-air venue into a magical escape of the sonic kind, Saadiyat Nights is set against the visually striking backdrop of Saadiyat Island’s world-renowned vistas, so this exclusive event promises an unforgettable fusion of music and starlight. Later this month, audiences can look forward to a stellar line-up that also boasts the likes of Christina Aguilera (15 February), Gwen Stefani (21 February), and Lionel Richie (22 February). Tickets to JLo’s show start from AED 300 and are available at ticketmaster.ae.
