After more than 30 years on the sand, Barasti will temporarily close this June before reopening in 2027 with a completely new look.
Few venues have witnessed Dubai’s transformation quite like Barasti. Long before Dubai Marina’s skyline filled the horizon, the beachfront favourite was already drawing crowds with live music, sports screenings and laid-back days by the sea. Now, after more than three decades, Barasti is preparing for its biggest change yet.
The iconic venue at Mina Seyahi will temporarily close later this month as part of a major redevelopment project. When it returns in 2027, guests can expect an entirely reimagined destination designed around dining, entertainment and community-focused experiences.
According to the team behind the project, the new Barasti will feature multiple zones catering to different occasions, from family-friendly daytime experiences to late-night entertainment. New food concepts, upgraded facilities and redesigned beachfront spaces are all part of the plan.
While the venue itself is changing, management says the character that made Barasti one of Dubai’s best-known hangouts isn’t going anywhere.
“Barasti is more than a venue. It is part of Dubai’s story,” says Ugur Lee Kanbur, multi-property general manager at Destination Mina Seyahi.
“For 30 years, it has brought people together and created memories for generations of residents and visitors. We’re creating a destination that honours Barasti’s remarkable legacy while taking it to an entirely new level.”
The timing reflects the rapid growth of the surrounding Dubai Marina and Dubai Harbour communities, which continue to attract new residents and businesses. The revamped venue is being positioned as a neighbourhood hub as much as a destination venue.
Before the gates close, Barasti is planning one final send-off.
Taking place on 21 June from 10am until midnight, Barasti: Last Orders will celebrate everything that made the venue famous. Expect beachfront entertainment, DJs, food and plenty of nostalgia as regulars gather for one last day in the current space.
Entry is free, while a special farewell package priced at AED 150 includes three food items and five beverages.
Since opening in 1995, Barasti has become one of Dubai’s most recognisable beachfront destinations. Over the years it has hosted international DJs, major sporting events and large-scale beach festivals, earning a reputation as one of the city’s most enduring nightlife institutions.
For many residents, it has been a constant through decades of change. Soon, it will begin a new chapter.
