Races, dining, live DJs, wellness activations — it’s all scheduled for the inaugural Garmin Fitness Festival on 30 November.
It’s not just concerts, beach club openings, and al fresco food festivals that come with cooler temperatures—fitness events like The Music Run and Dubai Active Show are also on the horizon. Joining this line-up is a newcomer, but at its helm is the leader of all things sports wearables: Garmin.
Partnering with Amit Retail, the brand will launch the inaugural Garmin Fitness Festival at Meydan Racecourse on 30 November, bringing together people of all ages to celebrate healthy living and participate in both fitness and fun activations. The outdoor event will host a number of races that will range from 100 meters to 10km, and span the likes of early morning challenges, night runs, and fun runs that will take place on a rolling basis. The UAE National Day will also be celebrated at the event with several initiatives designed to commemorate this occasion.
Races for adults will include distances of 10km, 5km, and 1 mile. A special 3km race will take place early in the morning, and a 5k night race will be held for anyone who wants to run in fancy dress. Races for the under 18s will see formats ranging from 100 meters (for the really young) right up to 5km. Relay races are also on the schedule, set to take place on the short course for teams of five. We’re told that podium prizes – some of Garmin’s best products included – will be provided for select key races. The day will also feature a huge Race Village, free to visit, with lots of activities for all ages.
The Fitness Village will house the Garmin Zone where you can test out the products and take part in challenges with a special OCR course set up by the new Arabian Warrior team, activations for many of Dubai’s best gyms, as well as fitness challenges set by some of the region’s most impactful running and fitness influencers. The village will also feature a family-centric picnic area as well as a McGettigan’s party zone where entertainment will kick off later in the day. Food and beverage options will be available to purchase throughout, and several fitness and wellness brands will be onsite to offer advice on nutrition, wellness and fitness.
The Garmin Fitness Festival event is the first in a series of Garmin-inspired activities designed to improve fitness across the population of the UAE and GCC region overall. Starting at AED 50, tickets are on sale now. Ready, set, race!
