One for the art lovers and culture vultures…
Dubai’s art scene has entered a new dimension with the opening of Theatre of Digital Art (ToDA) Dubai, a multi-sensory, multimedia immersive exhibition at Souk Madinat Jumeirah.
Having sparked a city-wide art renaissance in recent months through a series of curated virtual masterclasses with acclaimed UAE-based artists, the team behind ToDA has brought its world-renowned immersive multimedia exhibitions to Dubai’s art aficionados.
European digital production house Vision Multimedia Projects have transformed Souk Madinat Jumeirah’s leisure and entertainment space into its largest immersive digital art space yet.
ToDA is the first art initiative in the UAE to combine all three formats of digital art including multimedia exhibitions, contemporary immersive installations, and art in virtual reality. The result is an art, education, and entertainment hub covering an impressive 1,800 m2 that displays digital shows combining high-end technologies with classical art, accompanied by stunning music, visual effects, and surround sound.
The inaugural exhibition showcases nine celebrated artists and portrays the most important art movements of the late 19th and early 20th centuries led by Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet and Wassily Kandinsky.
The exhibition makes its Dubai debut following a successful global tour, attracting over 1.5 million visitors in the likes of Germany, Russia, Thailand and Saudi Arabia.
The latest exhibition at ToDA is the UAE the world premiere of Being Van Gogh. Exploring one of the most influential figures in the history of western art, you will not only be immersed in Van Gogh’s work, but you will also be able to see aspects of Van Gogh’s life and how this was reflected in his art. His ambitions and disappointments, his poverty and devotion to work, performed by an actor, either within the digital performance or live on stage.
