Nestled in the serene enclave of the Musandam Peninsula, just a two-hour drive from Dubai, lies the sustainable paradise of Six Senses Zighy Bay.
Combining idyllic retreats with innovative sustainability efforts, this resort should find its place on everyone’s travel bucket list.
Entry to the resort itself is an adventure, with guests offered the thrilling options of a mountainous drive or even paragliding into the bay. Once through the gates, warm Omani hospitality awaits, as you are welcomed with traditional treats and fitted with a Keffiyeh (the headdress worn by men in Oman), something which was much needed to escape the summer heat.
The villas, 82 in total, are spacious sanctuaries each with a private pool, inspired by stone-walled Omani dwellings. Outside, the full-width pool and private bamboo lounge look out onto the mesmerising Arabian Gulf making your stay feel truly indulgent.

Our villa had four showers, yes four! Two inside and two outside. Both indoor showers have a door leading to a private outside garden area, complete with full-size outdoor showers – ensuring privacy.
The resort boasts four restaurants, with offerings ranging from fresh sashimi at the Summer House to delectable mezze at the Street Market. Their cheese is locally made, with the Akawi Manakeesh being a delightful must-try for breakfast.
Whether it is hiking, mountain biking, or exploring the marine life through snorkelling, Six Senses Zighy Bay offers a host of activities for thrill-seekers and nature-lovers alike. Their paragliding experience, which is also an option for check-in, is not to be missed, providing a bird’s eye view of the resort and its sustainable farms and gardens.

Built amidst a local town, Six Senses Zighy Bay provides a paradisal escape, yet breathes life into the community. The resort has furnished local families with modern amenities like electricity and Wi-Fi while maintaining a firm commitment to the environment. Their no-plastic rule is an embodiment of their ethos, and the resort’s dedication to recycle and reuse resonate at every corner, from glass crafting workshops to transforming unused soap into fragrant candles and perfumes.
Six Senses Zighy Bay is more than a getaway; it’s an experience where luxury, sustainability, and local culture harmoniously intertwine. And if it was good enough for Lindsay Lohan to enjoy her babymoon last month, it is good enough for us.
