‘Break the Block’ will be taking over The Block at D3 for two nights this May, offering an immersive counter-culture experience of food, music and freestyle performances.
Inspired by the block party concept prevalent in the United States, the event held in collaboration with Dubai Food Festival brings together exciting foodie experiences with entertainment and performances that celebrate Dubai’s street culture. The overarching aim is to break traditional moulds and creative blocks within the communities.
Visitors will be able to dive into a street food experience from hand-selected vendors, who have been chosen to create a distinctly different gastronomic experience. From creative takes on burgers and pizza to delicious discoveries in Asian cuisine, Mexican food, coffee and desserts, the culinary journey at Break the Block will feature Birria Tacos, Café Isan, Chiki, Fifth Flavor, High Joint, Local Fire, Sakura and Pedalo Gelato.
Local and regional DJs, including DJ Luitik, DJ Kaboo, NEDZ and Dustizm will be on the decks, spinning an eclectic mix of Hip-Hop, Arab Trap, Lo-Fi, Afrobeats and indie. Visitors can also enjoy live performances from popular MENA acts such as Freek, Sandra Sahi and Dyler.
Habibi Skate Shop will host public skate jams and offer prizes, and festival goers will be treated to dance-offs, break dancers and live creations of street art murals in the Art Maze.
