The stars have aligned for the first-ever NBA Fan Appreciation Day.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has unveiled exciting news.
Six-time GRAMMY Award-winning, artist, producer, and songwriter T-Pain, will be headlining the inaugural NBA Fan Appreciation Day in Abu Dhabi. This remarkable event, which celebrates the fusion of basketball, popular culture, and the NBA, will take place on Friday, 6 October, at Etihad Arena.
Born Faheem Rashad Najm, T-Pain emerged in 2004 as a trailblazing artist, producer, and songwriter who has sold over 50 million singles. From 2006 to 2010, T-Pain’s voice resonated across over 50 chart-topping singles, including Bartender and I’m Sprung.

But the rapper-turned-singer is not the only celebrity making an appearance. Acclaimed American singer and Backstreet Boys member, AJ McLean, as well as the renowned American actor and producer, Michael B. Jordan, will also participate as special guests.
AJ McClean achieved global success with hits like As Long As You Love Me and Everybody (Backstreet’s Back), selling over 100 million records worldwide as part of The Backstreet Boys. McClean will lead the crowd at Fan Appreciation Day in an unforgettable karaoke performance of I Want It That Way.
Hollywood actor, Michael B. Jordan, gained stardom through roles in films like Fruitvale Station (2013) and Fantastic Four (2014). However, it was his portrayal of Adonis Creed in the Creed franchise that propelled him to global stardom. Jordan’s most notable role to date has been as Erik Killmonger in Black Panther, a record-breaking Marvel film that grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide and earned its place as the ninth highest-grossing film at the time of its release.

NBA Fan Appreciation Day promises an array of exciting experiences, including appearances by Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves players, as well as NBA legends such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Ray Allen, Gary Payton, and Tim Hardaway Sr. Attendees can look forward to thrilling activities such as skills challenges, a three-point contest featuring Mavericks and Timberwolves players, performances by the Mavericks Entertainment Team, the Timberwolves Dunk Team, and the team mascots. There will also be a slam dunk contest featuring professional dunkers.
The highlight of the NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2023 will be two preseason games featuring the Mavericks and the Timberwolves. These games will be held on Thursday, 5 October and Saturday, 7 October at 8pm.
