Global superstar Eminem will be headlining day four of the Yasalam after-race concerts
Music fans are in for a treat as Grammy Award-winning rapper Eminem will be performing on Saturday 7 December as part of the after-race concerts at this year’s Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
He has had a long list of hits during his illustrious career, including My Name Is, Stan and The Monster to name a few. He recently released a new song called Houdini which features on his latest album called The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).
As the name suggests, it marks the end of his peroxide-blond haired alter ego and the album artwork shows Slim Shady in a bodybag. The album has already received rave views from critics, and Eminem is sure to play tracks from the album for the Abu Dhabi crowd.
The rap star, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, shot the fame in the 1990s and has become one of the best-selling artists of all time, and is credited with breaking down racial barriers in music.
Eminem joins an impressive line-up of artists due to play in the capital during the four-day festivities from 4 to 8 December. In April, organisers Ethara announced that British rock-band Muse will perform on the final day of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, wrapping up an unrivalled 4-day event in the region. Just last month Maroon 5 were added to the bill to headline on the Friday.
The rapper is no stranger to Abu Dhabi and appeared in the capital in 2019 as part of his Kamikaze world tour. The appearance followed a long absence for the music star who has drifted in and out of the media’s attention during his career. The 2019 set featured almost 30 tracks from his back catalogue and had a show-stopping finale closing out the show with arguably one of his biggest hits, Lose Yourself.
He also performed at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2012, meaning he is the only artist to return to perform again at the Formula 1 after-race concerts. Reviews of that 2012 concert said he gave fans everything they wanted, rapping all his biggest hits, doing 30-second mash-ups and even finding time to talk to the crowd.
The Yasalam After-Race concerts will take place at Etihad Park and are exclusive for ticket holders of the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Tickets are available via www.abudhabigp.com, starting from AED 750.
