UB40, The Original Wailers and Trojan Sound System will perform at the ‘Reggae Night’ concert.
The World Tennis League has unveiled its first lineup of artists for this year’s sports and entertainment extravaganza in Abu Dhabi. The star-studded event, set to take place at Etihad Arena on Yas Island, will feature a special ‘Reggae Night’ concert on Saturday, 23 December 2023.
Kicking off the festivities will be the legendary Trojan Sound System, renowned for their skillful remixes spanning the last four decades. The London-based band, led by Daddy Ad, brings an infectious energy to reggae’s classic chart-toppers, uniting devoted vinyl collectors while introducing a new generation to the roots of Jamaican music and Bass culture.
Following Trojan Sound System, The Original Wailers, featuring Al Anderson, the sole surviving member of Bob Marley and The Wailers from the mid-1970s lineup, will take to the stage. The lead guitarist, chosen by reggae legend Bob Marley himself, gained fame for his outstanding work on classics such as No Woman, No Cry and Three O’Clock Road Block.
Finally, UB40, led by Ali Campbell, will close the evening with a spectacular performance of their chart-topping hits. The British band have sold over 70 million records worldwide and will treat the audience to their timeless hits like Falling in Love with You and Red Red Wine.
Rajesh Banga, Chairman of the World Tennis League, expressed his excitement, saying, “We’re thrilled to announce UB40, The Original Wailers and The Trojan Sound System as our first artists set to headline the evening concerts of World Tennis League this December.
This extraordinary sports and entertainment spectacle, aptly dubbed the ‘Greatest Show on Court,’ will showcase some of the world’s finest tennis players from 21 to 24 December in Abu Dhabi. Each night, after the tennis matches conclude, world-class international concerts will light up the stage.
