Comedy fans, listen up: Matt Rife is confirmed to take the stage at Etihad Arena later this year, and you can register for pre-sale tickets circa now. The pre-sale opens on 7 March, and tickets go on general sale the following day at www.livenation.me. Brought to the capital by leading live entertainment company Live Nation Middle East, Rife is a globally renowned comedian and actor famed for his quick wit, clever wordplay, unpredictable humour, and a refreshingly genuine presence on stage.
Lately, he has exploded onto the global comedy scene, becoming one of the biggest comedians in the world thanks to his unmissable Netflix special Natural Selection and remarkable engagement on social media, where he has amassed over 18 million followers and two billion views. As one of the most talked-about talents in the business, Rife has been selling out in theatres and arenas worldwide. Incidentally, he is currently on his biggest tour to date with Live Nation, the Matt Rife: ProbleMATTic World Tour, which will see him entertain Abu Dhabi audiences.
Growing up in a small town near Columbus, Ohio, Rife started performing at the age of 15 before moving out to Los Angeles two years later, where he began his career in Hollywood. Today, his claim to fame is selling out four shows at The Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, where the Academy Awards were also held. His current tour sold over 600,000 tickets in under 48 hours, becoming one of the largest of its kind in over 20 years. He joined Taylor Swift as the only other live act to break Ticketmaster’s website due to the overwhelming levels of demand.
In 2021, Rife self-produced and distributed through YouTube his first one-hour comedy special, Only Fans. In April 2023, the comedian bet on himself again and self-released his second stand-up special, Matthew Steven Rife, on YouTube. Only a couple of months later, Rife decided to release a crowdwork special, Walking Red Flag, on YouTube, which has amassed over 10 million views. Adding to Matt’s remarkable success in 2023 was the aforementioned Natural Selection, which garnered massive viewership numbers, including over 10.3 million views in its first two weeks and earned a Top 10 ranking in 42 countries including #1 in the US, Canada, and South Africa. Other credits include Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Fresh Off the Boat, and NBC’s comedy competition show Bring the Funny.
