Life’s milestones are chaotic. Just ask Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo of NearlyParents podcast fame. Formerly known as the duo behind the hit NewlyWeds podcast, they’re bringing a night of hilarity to the city, making their regional debut with NearlyParents Podcast Live at Dubai Opera on 11 October. The show is part of the upcoming Dubai Comedy Festival’s already stacked line-up (but more on that later).
Laing and Habboo, who met while filming reality TV show Made in Chelsea back in 2017, have gone from best friends to husband and wife and now nearly parents, documenting their journey and taking audiences along for the ride. Hot off their podcast rebrand, from NewlyWeds to NearlyParents following their June pregnancy reveal, Jamie and Sophie are stepping into the spotlight once again with their signature blend of candid storytelling, marital madness and, now, parenting panic.
As the couple barrels into the big chapter of parenthood, NearlyParents Podcast Live promises laughs from start to finish, complete with anecdotes, silly gags, sharp banter, raw honesty, and ridiculous one-liners as they navigate everything from baby scans and morning sickness. With their heartfelt announcement on Instagram and a new era underway, NearlyParents is the next hilarious chapter in a love story that’s been anything but traditional. Laing’s infectious energy and Habboo’s razor-sharp wit make for a comedy combo like no other, and their live show, presented by Live Nation Middle East, promises plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, relatable revelations, and maybe even a few unexpected tears.
Returning for its fifth and funniest year yet, the Dubai Comedy Festival is taking place from 2 to 12 October across some of the city’s most iconic venues, including Dubai Opera and the Coca-Cola Arena. Produced by BRAG and presented by Dubai Calendar, this edition promises another unforgettable run of multicultural humour and laugh-out-loud moments. Among the acts already confirmed are global sensations Tom Segura, Zakir Khan, Redouane Bougheraba, Morgan Jay, Amer Zahr, Omid Djalili, Akaash Singh, Joanne McNally, John Achkar, and Ivan Abramov, making 2025 the most exciting year yet.
