World-renowned reggae band ‘The Original Wailers’ are heading back to Dubai for the first time since 2015.
Brought to the UAE by Blu Blood and BookMyShow, the creators of ‘No Woman No Cry’, ‘Three Little Birds’ and ‘Could You Be Loved’ will perform a live concert at Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium on Friday 19 November 2021.
Formed 58 years ago by singer-songwriter Bob Marley, along with Bunny Walker, Peter Tosh and the Barrett Brothers, the Wailer’s claimed their place in music history as era-defining giants of the reggae scene.
Al Anderson carried on the legacy of the original group and will bring the band back to the UAE for the first time since 2015 for a memorable night. In late 2020, ‘The Wailers’ returned to the recording studio to record the band’s first album in 25 years, ‘One World’, which was nominated for a 2021 Grammy Award in the Best Reggae Album category. The album also features Bob Marley’s children, Cedella and Julian.
“We’ve worked with some incredible talent over the years, but this is one show that we are especially excited to be working on,” said Osman Osman, Managing Director of Blu Blood. “The world has grown up listening to this music, and reggae continues to be a genre that unites people through music. Emerging from the challenges of the past two years, it’s important to give fans and artists a safe space to connect.”
Lawrence Harradine, Business Head – Middle East, at BookMyShow, added: “We are very excited to bring The Wailers back to Dubai for a show that will rekindle decades of rich reggae nostalgia. Through the success of our Westlife and BoysIIMen shows, we appreciate the UAE audience’s demand for legacy acts and great hits of the past, and not many bands can claim the legendary status of The Wailers. As an evolving music act, they have created some of the world’s most recognizable songs.”
Doors for the concert at Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium will open at 7pm and The Wailers will take the stage at 9pm. Ticket can be purchased from www.bookmyshow.com/dubai
