The British boyband’s concert will mark the first time that live music entertainment has accented racing action at Mubadala Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix.
If pop-y tunes such as “Pray”, “Back For Good”, and “Never Forget” essentially defined your youth, this one’s for you: Take That is confirmed to perform a special Saturday race day performance as part of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix presented by Abu Dhabi Sports Council. The trio – Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, and Mark Owen – will return to the UAE to exclusively perform a packed set of hits for fans upon the conclusion of SailGP’s high-speed racing at Mina Zayed on opening day, 13 January. Bonus: with the band releasing its ninth studio album This Life less than a month ago, its newest songs will also make an appearance.
The upcoming concert incidentally marks a historic moment for SailGP, one of the fastest growing sport and entertainment properties in the world — it will be the first time the global league has combined its high-speed racing action with live music entertainment to create a truly memorable fan experience. Already the most exciting racing on water, SailGP’s reputation for memorable entertainment will now continue after the sporting action has finished, as Take That brings its world-renowned energy to the SailGP Race Stadium.

For the uninitiated, Take That was formed as a five-piece in 1989 and went on to enjoy immediate success with its first two albums charting at Number 2 and Number 1 respectively. The third album, Nobody Else, confirmed the band’s global domination, translating to over six million copies sold and topping the charts in 11 countries. The departure of band member Robbie Williams prompted a break-up in 1996 before the remaining four members reunited in 2005, sparking one of the greatest comebacks in British music history. The band celebrated its 30th anniversary with the release of Odyssey in 2018, a greatest hits album of beautifully reimagined versions of some of its biggest tracks in 30 years.

SailGP, for context, has been dubbed the world’s most exciting racing on water.
