Inspired by London’s storied theatre district, the new cultural venue at Mall of the Emirates is off to a busy start.
Covent Garden Theatre’s grand opening won’t take place until September, but there’s already plenty of action happening on stage. Inspired by London’s famed theatre district, the new cultural venue at Mall of the Emirates has just revealed an exciting lineup of must-see shows. But first, a little introduction to the venue itself.
A hub of creativity in the making, Covent Garden Theatre is a multifunctional space that features a 600-seater theatre, 10 state-of-the-art dance and rehearsal studios, a holistic yoga and Pilates space, a Black Box Theatre, al fresco dining, and more — all under one roof. It’s where global performances will meet local energy, blending West End musicals, Arabic plays, ballet, comedy, opera, family shows, and concerts. Marking a milestone for the city, it also houses the first international outpost of London’s iconic Pineapple Dance Studios, brought to the region by British popstars Lisa Scott-Lee and Johnny Shentall-Lee. Open to all ages and levels, the studios will offer an exciting schedule of classes throughout the summer and beyond, booking via Classcard.
As for what’s coming up on the roster? The Roller Boys, for starters. From international arenas to Britain’s Got Talent and Holland’s Got Talent, the roller-skating act featuring stars from Starlight Express have already wowed crowds worldwide. Here in Dubai, audiences can expect high-flying flips, epic stunts and iconic hits in a show that’s full-throttle fun from start to finish. The Roller Boys will perform at Covent Garden Theatre from 10 to 13 July.
Jersey Quartet will follow soon after, taking the stage on 11 and 12 July. This leading Jersey Boys tribute act will fly in from the UK, bringing with it slick moves, powerhouse vocals, and non-stop hits like “Beggin’” and “Oh, What a Night”. This cheeky foursome has also entertained audiences worldwide — Jersey Quartet has performed in the West End as well as iconic venues like The Savoy and Grosvenor House. Available via Platinumlist, tickets to both Jersey Quartet and The Roller Boys start at AED 100.
