The pop culture festival returns to Abu Dhabi in March.
The Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC) is set to return to Abu Dhabi for its 11th edition from 3 to 5 March, bringing with it a whole host of stars, including Matt Smith.
The premier pop culture event in the Middle East have announced the addition of Star Wars legend Anthony Daniels to its celebrity lineup. The British actor famously portrayed C3PO in the Star Wars franchise. He is the only actor to have appeared in all nine Star Wars films, and has also played the golden protocol droid in the franchise’s various spin-offs.

Daniels is a beloved figure among Star Wars fans and has been recognised for his contribution to the franchise with numerous awards and honours. He has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, as well as a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Legendary comic artists Ken Lashley and Ryan Ottley have also been added to the lineup, joining the International Artist Alley, sponsored by Manga Arabia. Ryan Ottley is known for his work on Marvel titles like The Amazing Spider-Man and Hulk. Ken Lashley has contributed to both DC (Superwoman, Batwing, Suicide Squad) and Marvel (X-Men Gold, Excalibur, Black Panther, Rising Stars) comics.
Movie fans have plenty to enjoy at this year’s Cine Club lineup. Expect exclusive film screenings, Q&A panels with guest stars, and community meet-ups. Don’t miss the KPOP Meets KDrama panel celebrating K-Entertainment, and a retrospective of 10 years of MEFCCI. The Retail Area offers collectables, merchandise, and custom art, while the outdoor Festival Stage has cosplay, dance competitions, pop quizzes, and karaoke.

Show off your cosplay talent and you could win a prize pool of AED 30,000 across four categories: Best Craftsmanship, Best Performance on Stage, Best Kids Cosplay and the World Cosplay Summit Preliminaries. To participate in the highly coveted World Cosplay Summit Preliminaries, participants must enter as a team of two, perform on stage, and attend a judging round where professional cosplay judges will evaluate costumes and props. The winners of this category will have the chance to represent the UAE at the World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan.
