The region’s first art house cinema enters a new chapter.
Cinema Akil has launched a seasonal outdoor venue on the grounds of the ultra-hip 25hours Hotel Dubai One Central.
The latest venture from the cinematic disruptors spans 1,867.5 square feet and is divided into three sections: the box office, the open cinema theatre, and a versatile retail space.
Cinema Akil in 25hours will host screenings four times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, typically starting between 7:30pm and 8pm. With a seating capacity of 72 people and a total standing capacity of approximately 150 guests, this venue creates an intimate yet vibrant atmosphere for cinema enthusiasts and creatives.

The central theatre space, between the multi-purpose area and the box office, forms the heart of the cinema experience and has been designed by architect Joud Malhas. The venue’s standout feature is its striking red scaffolding, a homage to Dubai’s perpetual state of construction and a nod to Cinema Akil’s flagship colour. The space also features curated objects by Jetsons Designs, bookshelves, and a touch of nature with plants and trees, reflecting Cinema Akil’s commitment to regional collaboration and creation.
The cinema boasts cutting-edge technology, including state-of-the-art laser projection and Dolby 7.1 cinema sound. The acoustic design, completed by Acoustics Studio 21dB, ensures the integrity of the cinematic experience in the open atrium space. The venue’s ambience, designed for intimacy and immersion, transitions seamlessly from a daytime garden installation to a nighttime back alley adorned with exclusive red lights and Cinema Akil’s iconic chandeliers.

Butheina Kazim, Founder of Cinema Akil, expressed, “Cinema Akil in 25hours is more than just a cinema; it’s a vibrant hub where film and culture converge, reflecting the dynamic spirit of Dubai.”
Beyond film screenings, Cinema Akil in 25hours promises a diverse range of entertainment options, including food and beverage offerings, music events, talks, and pop-up experiences.

Originally appearing as a pop-up during the hotel’s opening in March 2021, Cinema Akil in 25hours aims to become a cultural hub, inviting cinephiles, artists, and creatives to enjoy an unparalleled entertainment experience that resonates with the city’s spirit.
All screenings at Cinema Akil in 25hours will be free of charge during the upcoming season, inviting everyone to experience the magic of cinema in this dynamic and innovative venue.
