A new mega project has just been launched in Dubai combining nature, wellbeing and the incredible local landscape. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has announced the Al Layan Oasis project which will mean a new outdoor attraction will be on the doorstep for residents and visitors in the UAE.
The AED 4 billion project is located just 50 minutes from the centre of Dubai, making it easily accessible for all. The attraction will include 14km of walking and bicycle tracks, as well as panoramic views of the oasis that link to routes in Al Marmoom. It will have a fully equipped visitor centre, outdoor theatre, food truck area, play areas for little ones and an open-air cinema.
The attraction is split across four zones and caters to all ages, including a Camping Oasis which will have 100 caravans residing in it, a Family Oasis with 28 rest areas, a Gathering Oasis set to be home to the open-air cinema. The complex will also include a Recreational Oasis with retail outlets in a natural setting.
Sheikh Mohammed commented on the project saying: “A new tourism addition to our economic sector that we launched today, Al Layan Oasis, spanning 10 million square feet. Centred by a lake covering 2.5 million square feet and including recreational facilities, sports trails, camping areas, and unprecedented desert tourism experiences as part of a package of water and green projects for which we have allocated 4 billion dirhams.”
Al Layan Oasis is part of Dubai’s Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030, with a vision to plant more than 1.5 million trees in the emirate over a five-year period whilst adding 120 new parks for the people of the UAE to enjoy.
