The unique immersive experience will welcome an indoor sanctuary with butterflies and rare rainforest species.
Abu Dhabi is about to welcome The Butterfly Gardens on 9 January, which will combine more than 10,000 butterflies, rare rainforest species and tropical environments brought to life indoors within a fully climate-controlled space.
The experience can be found in Al Qana, just five minutes from the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and directly in front of The National Aquarium. Expect to come face-to-face with colourful wings, exotic insects and rainforest wildlife without leaving the city.
Within the gardens, you’ll find a rare mix of wildlife, including a two-toed sloth, Palawan bearcat, Cuvier’s dwarf caiman, tamandua, Sri Lankan giant squirrel and Gouldian finches. Each species moves freely through the space, creating a calm, open environment for all.

The butterflies are ethically sourced through long-standing partnerships with small-scale farming communities in Costa Rica and the Philippines. And what’s more, education is a big part of the attraction. Expect school groups to be exploring sessions and visitors of all ages can learn from the interactive areas dedicated to insects and tropical species.
The Butterfly Garden includes a cafe and retail boutique as well as dedicated areas for events and workshops. You can also combine your ticket with a visit to The National Aquarium.
