The long-running Broadway musical will play eight shows at Coca-Cola Arena from 16 to 20 December.
Chicago The Musical is heading to Dubai this December, with eight performances scheduled at Coca-Cola Arena from 16 to 20 December, marking 30 years since its current Broadway production opened.
Set in 1920s Chicago, the musical follows Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, two women whose lives collide in prison as they chase fame, freedom and their next headline. The story mixes crime, celebrity and a media circus, with the score featuring songs including All That Jazz, Cell Block Tango and Razzle Dazzle.
The Dubai run comes during the 30th anniversary year of the Broadway production, which has become one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history. The production has also toured internationally, with more than 34 million people having seen Chicago worldwide.
The show will be presented by producers Barry and Fran Weissler, David Ian for Crossroads Live and Marquee Global Events.
Performances take place across five days, with afternoon and evening shows on Friday 18, Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 December. Tickets are already on sale, starting from AED 49 for weekday Bronze tickets, while weekend prices start from AED 99.
Coca-Cola Arena will be configured in a theatre-style format for the production, with organisers expecting more than 32,000 people to attend across the Dubai run.
For musical theatre fans, it is a chance to see one of Broadway’s best-known productions without having to leave the UAE.
