The pop-up takes up residence at the Meydan nightlife destination until the end of January 2022.
World-renowned Argentinian bartender and bar owner Renato ‘Tato’ Giovannoni, founder of Florería Atlántico in Buenos Aires, will serve his signature cocktails at Iris Dubai this winter.
Buenos Aires is a port city that immigrants from across the globe have shaped. The city also has a rich cocktail history, dating back over 100 years and Florería Atlántico is a love letter to the flavours and tastes introduced by migrants between the 1900s to 1920s.
Established in 2013, Florería Atlántico is a florist and award-winning hidden bar. When the sun sets, a refrigerator door reveals a flight of stairs leading down to an atmospheric basement space beneath the flower shop.
Creating the ultimate free-spirited sensory experience, Tato and his team will take over one of Iris Dubai’s four bars. At the pop-up, diners can enjoy a cocktail menu inspired by the countries that provided the most significant immigration flows to Argentina during that period. The menu explains the unique story behind each of the drinks.
Guests can enjoy the Colonia Lujan, enthused by the presence of the Japanese community in Argentina, the El Dorado, stemming from the German, Swedish and Danish families arriving by boat to Puerto Piray, and the Valcheta, reflecting the Syrian and Lebanese immigration movement to settle in the southeast of Río Negro.
At the pop-up, guests can also enjoy dishes such as grilled squid, whole fish of the day, Argentinian style grilled steak, barbequed seafood and Panzanella salad. For dessert, diners can choose from either the cachaça flambé pineapple or the dulce de leche crème caramel.
Florería Atlántico claimed a position on the World’s 50 Best Bars list in the same year it opened and in 2019, the bar took third place in the esteemed ranking, making it the first-ever Latin American bar to make the top three. In 2020, it was crowned the Best Bar in South America and its mastermind Tato Giovannoni, the Altos Bartenders’ Bartender 2020.
