As tickets to the Finnish comedian’s show sold out immediately, organisers have added a second show on 22 January.
If you run a Google search for “Finnish comedian”, only one name pops up – Ismo Leikola, who often goes by the one-name moniker Ismo.
Known for his outsider’s point of view to find humour in ordinary things, Ismo launched his international career by winning the Laugh Factory’s Funniest Person in the World competition in 2014. He has since appeared on shows like Last Call with Carson Daly, Conan, and The Late Late Show with James Corden. He has also worked with Merriam-Webster on a digital comedy series roasting the English language.
Abz Ali, the Emirati comic chosen by international comedian Wayne Brady to open for him at the Coca-Cola Arena, will host the show. Abz shares a funny and unique outlook on society, starting with growing up in Dubai, living in New Zealand for nine years, and talking about his day job as a dentist. Ali is not afraid to broach sensitive topics and tease anyone brave enough to sit in the front row.
The opening act for the night is Salman Qureshi, a pioneer of the UAE’s stand-up comedy scene and host of The Expat Brat podcast. He is one of the first regional comics to be nominated for the iconic LA Factory USA’s Funniest Person in the World Competition in 2016. Born in Saudi Arabia to Pakistani parents, Qureshi jokes about being a third culture kid, family, and pop culture.
Tickets are available on Platinumlist, starting at AED 175. Doors open at 5pm; be prepared for more than two hours of pure hilarity.
