Al Wasl Plaza
Fondly referred to as the heart of Expo 2020 Dubai, the golden dome of Al Wasl Plaza took centre stage during the Expo 2020 Opening Ceremony. The venue is topped by a 65‑meter‑high domed trellis inspired by the shape of the Expo 2020 Dubai logo and acts as the world’s largest immersive 360‑degree projection surface. Al Wasl Plaza will play host to musical concerts throughout the 181‑day duration of Expo 2020, and each night the dome comes alive with a mesmerising light show.
Expo 2020 Water Feature
Experience sheets of water cascading down 13‑metre‑high walls during daylight hours and then defying gravity by flowing upwards after sunset. Visitors enter a 40‑metre‑wide garden of towering palms rising above a series of curving paths that encircle the central water feature like ripples in a pond. The 153 individual waves range from glistening sheets to bursts of water as they make their dramatic descent to the plaza below. Visitors are invited to walk to the base of the falls to see how the water disappears through the stone. Each surge of water is released on a musical cue, creating an orchestral masterpiece performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. The original score was written by the award‑winning composer Ramin Djawadi, whose work includes the theme music for the HBO series Game of Thrones.
Garden In The Sky
Located in Jubilee Park and soaring 55‑metres above the ground, Garden In The Sky is an observation tower and “flying park”, offering 360‑degree views of the Expo 2020 Dubai site. Visitors to the only attraction of its kind in the world will enter the lower cabin in the basement and the upper cabin on the ground floor. The interlinked cabins rotate as they ascend and descend. Entry to Garden In The Sky is AED 30 per person.
Brazil Pavillion
Experience the largest blackwater river in the world at Brazil Pavillion and discover incredible diversity, from flora and fauna to arts and culture. The pavilion recreates the Amazon basin, where visitors can take in the sights, sounds and scents of Brazil’s riverside areas and even go for a quick paddle.
Estonia Pavillion
Robots form a big part of Expo 2020, with the machines utilised for delivery, directions and patrols throughout the Expo site. Yet, it’s the robots at the Estonia Pavilion that have captured our attention. The pavilion features an AI‑powered barista called Yanu that knows how to prepare drinks and reflects the pavilion’s theme of introducing e‑solutions that are part of people’s daily lives.
Germany Pavillion
This pavilion has been turning heads with its ‘edutainment’ focus that features an adult ball pool and swings. ‘Enrol’ at Campus Germany for hands‑on digital experiences based around a campus theme. The Germany Pavilion also features a restaurant serving traditional German cuisine.
Luxembourg Pavillion
The only pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai to have a slide! Delve into an immersive experience of Luxembourg’s diversity, connectivity, and far‑reaching commitment to sustainability and nature. Spread over three levels and connected by a giant metal slide, the pavilion also features a gift shop selling Luxembourg‑designed products and gifts.
