The best-selling crooner will perform at Coca-Cola Arena as part of his Who We Used to Be tour.
Gone are the days when James Blunt was known for one song, and one song only: “You’re Beautiful”. The army-officer-turned-crooner has been crafting the kind of contemporary soft rock that evokes a myriad of emotions since the noughties, now boasting loyal fans the world over — Dubai included. The internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter, James Blunt will soon return to the city as he takes centre stage at Coca-Cola Arena on 24 May. The performance is part of his Who We Used to Be tour.
“I cannot find the words to say how excited I am to get back out on the road again on tour in 2024,” says Blunt. “My new album was incredibly fun to write and record, and some of the new songs will undoubtedly get you up on your feet and dancing again. I’m looking forward to returning to Dubai, it’s always amazing to perform in front of such a passionate and supportive audience.”
For fans of James Blunt’s evocative storytelling, distinctive voice, and emotive performances, the new tour is a journey through his musical evolution. Blending elements of folk, pop and rock to create a sound that is uniquely his own, each song captures moments of love, loss and self-discovery with an authenticity that is both raw and compelling. His star-studded career has been defined by a series of timeless hits, and Dubai can expect to be serenaded to his hauntingly beautiful hit “You’re Beautiful”, the soulful ballad “Goodbye My Lover”, the nostalgic “1973” and many more, including the new album’s first single that arrived in the shape of the upbeat banger, “Beside You”.
Who We Used to Be is Blunt’s first studio album since the acclaimed Once Upon a Mind in 2019. This time out, he has worked with a variety of producers including Jonny Coffer, Red Triangle, Jack & Coke, and Steve Robson. Directed by Craig Bingham, the music video for “Beside You” evokes memories of his past. Meeting versions of himself throughout his life, the video sees the artist embrace the characters of his past self as he moves forward. His recent greatest hits collection The Stars Beneath My Feet went gold, selling over 100 000 copies.
