Sunday Times declared the multiple award-winning show “easily the standout musical of the decade”.
Matilda The Musical, inspired by the beloved book by the incomparable Roald Dahl, will have 11 shows at Dubai Opera from Tuesday 3 October to Thursday 12 October, including two matinees over the weekend.
Performed by The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), Matilda The Musical is scripted by Tony Award-winning playwright Dennis Kelly with original songs by Tim Minchin.
For those who are not familiar with the book or film by the same name, Matilda tells the story of an extraordinary little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. The musical takes the audience through her mostly unpleasant life at home and school. But Matilda Wormwood has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils’ saving grace.
Over the course of her first term at school, Matilda and Miss Honey, her highly loveable teacher, have a profound effect on each other’s lives. Armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, Matilda dares to take a stand and change her own destiny.
Winner of more than 99 international awards, including 24 for Best Musical, Matilda The Musical is now in its twelfth year in London, where it continues to delight audiences of all ages.
Catch the all-singing, all-dancing adaptation of Matilda at Dubai Opera between October 3 and 12, with ticket prices from AED325. Matinee performances are available at 2PM on Saturday and Sunday. Evening performances start at 8PM Tuesday to Saturday and at 7.30PM on Sunday.
