The exhibition is set to open on 30 May 2026 at Manarat al Saadiyat.
Japanese animation powerhouse Studio Ghibli is set to bring The World of Studio Ghibli exhibition to Manarat al Saadiyat next year. As the Studio’s first showcase in the Middle East, in collaboration with Theory Eleven Entertainment in partnership with Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi, Miral, this promises to captivate audiences through groundbreaking animation, storytelling and unique characters.
The exhibition will come to life across 16 galleries in Manarat al Saadiyat, where you’ll be able to see your favourite characters come to life. You can expect magical installations, photo-friendly corners and touchpoints that will resonate with both long-term fans and newcomers discovering the films for the first time.
It will be an unforgettable journey through beloved films including My Neighbor Totoro (1988), Kiki’s Delivery Service (1989), Princess Mononoke (1997), Spirited Away (2001) and Howl’s Moving Castle (2004). The main highlights include large-scale theatrical sets from waiting in the rain with Totoro and entering Howl’s Moving Castle to hopping on a train with No Face.
A variety of interactive box art pieces and installations will allow you to take a closer look at the intricate details present in each frame of a Studio Ghibli film, from the laboratory of Kokiri the witch from Kiki’s Delivery Service, to a close up of the letter Satsuki wrote to her mother about meeting Totoro.
There will also be a dedicated retail space where you can shop a selection of exclusive Studio Ghibli merchandise, from collectables and homeware to gifts that bring a little piece of the fantasy world back home.
UAE fans can look forward to securing their visit to The World of Studio Ghibli when tickets go on sale on 8 December.
