One of the world’s most successful live celebrations of Michael Jackson is heading to Abu Dhabi this summer. This Is Michael comes to Etihad Arena on Yas Island on 22 August, brought to the region by Live Nation Middle East in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi and Miral.
The timing couldn’t be better. The Michael Jackson biopic Michael, starring his nephew Jaafar Jackson, has become one of the biggest films of the year, grossing over half a billion dollars globally in its first three weekends, making it the most successful music biopic in North American history. Jackson is firmly back in the cultural conversation, and This Is Michael gives UAE audiences the chance to experience his music and legacy live.
The show is led by Lenny Jay, a performer who has drawn significant attention for his vocal, physical and choreographic likeness to Michael Jackson. The production features an international cast of dancers, singers and live musicians, with more than 20 songs and multiple costume changes across a two-hour show. Think Thriller, Billie Jean, Beat It and the full catalogue of Jackson’s most iconic moments, recreated live on stage.
This Is Michael has already sold more than 500,000 tickets globally, with previous runs across Europe and Latin America earning it a reputation as one of the most polished tributes to Jackson’s live shows currently on tour. The Abu Dhabi date marks its first appearance in the UAE.
