Football fans, listen up – an unmissable evening of discussing tactics, formations, managers, iconic matches and more is in the works, and it will feature not one, but two icons: Gary Neville and Michael Owen. Hosted by Chris McHardy, this informal session of football banter will take place at The Agenda in Media City on 17 November. Tickets go on sale today.
For the uninitiated, Gary Neville is perhaps the most famous face in English football. After retiring from the game in 2011, the ex-Manchester United defender and former captain is well-known for his heated discussions on Monday Night Football and outspoken views on the game he loves. His glittering career saw him make over 600 appearances for Manchester United, earn 85 caps for England, and lift 20 career trophies, including eight Premier League titles, two Champions League titles, three FA Cups, two Football League titles, and one FIFA Club World Cup. Post-retirement, Neville became an assistant coach for England and head coach for Spanish club Valencia CF before embarking on his punditry career on Sky Sports.
Michael Owen, meanwhile, is a former Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle United, Manchester United, Stoke City, and England star. Famous for claiming the Premier League Golden Boot twice during his illustrious career and being the last English player to win the Ballon d’Or, he too has recently made a name for himself as an insightful pundit. A superstar from a young age, Owen played his first senior England match at 18 and went on to amass 89 caps, scoring 40 goals for the Three Lions. He will forever be remembered for ‘that’ goal against Argentina in 1998 and his memorable hat trick against Germany in 2001. In what promises to be a laidback and highly entertaining night, fans will get the opportunity to get up close and personal with their idols at The Agenda.
