The 2024 MICHELIN Guide Dubai is out and it’s good news for the city.
Row on 45 has become the fourth restaurant in Dubai to now have two coveted MICHELIN Stars. The other three are Il Ristorante – Niko Romito, STAY by Yannick Alléno and Trèsind Studio. They all retain their two-star status from last year.
The third edition of the MICHELIN Guide Dubai was held last night at the One&Only One Za’abeel hotel and also unveiled four new one MICHELIN Star eateries. These include La Dame de Pic, Smoked Room, Sagetsu by Tetsuya and Orfali Bros.
Row on 45 (it stands for ‘Refinement Of Work’) comes from acclaimed British chef Jason Atherton and is located on the 45th floor of The Grosvenor House Hotel in Dubai Marina. Its tasting menu is for only 22 people, and the style is Japanese meets French cuisine.
There were also six new Bib Gourmand restaurants, which are awarded to restaurants that offer “great quality and great value cooking”. The new Bib Gourmand for 2024 are: Berenjak, Duo Gastrobar, Hoe Lee Kow, Konjiki Hototogisu, Reif Kushiyaki (Dubai Hills) and Revelry.
The third edition of the MICHELIN Guide Dubai now features 106 restaurants and 35 different cuisines, truly putting Dubai on the global food map.
“Its appeal isn’t just with international travellers or local gourmets; talented chefs and restaurateurs from around the world are now also attracted by its vibrant dining scene and arrive keen to make their own mark in the city,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of The MICHELIN Guides.
What’s great about the awards is that they also recognise and reward individuals, some who often work behind the scenes. The Young Chef Award went to 30-year-old Jesus Lobato Suarez who is Head Chef at Smoked Room, which just gained its first MICHELIN Star for 2024.
