1 August: Catch a Classic

The Summer of Classics festival continues (almost) daily at Cinema Akil throughout the month of August, with the independent cinema platform in Alserkal Avenue hosting a flawlessly curated selection of – you guessed it – classics. 2 August: Journey to Lebanon

Have dinner with a difference at the Mediterranean Fusion Private Dining experience that’s hosted by Oliver Chedid and available to book through the BreakBread platform. The chef blends the flavours of his childhood with gourmet, seasonal ingredients from the Mediterranean, resulting in a four-course menu that consists of dishes such as duck ravioli and grilled red snapper. 3 August: Immerse in Wonderland

Go down the rabbit hole with Alice in Wonderland 360° at the Theatre of Digital Art in Souk Madinat. Based on the 1865 novel loved worldwide, it will transport visitors to a whimsical world that pairs cutting-edge technology with the book’s fascinating characters like the eccentric Mad Hatter and mischievous Cheshire Cat to transform this classic story into a groundbreaking 360° experience unlike any other.

10 August: Show Solidarity

Dive into the vibrant culture of Palestine with the two-hour Painting for Palestine workshop at Kave in Alserkal Avenue. Guided by expert instructors, you’ll learn the basics of freehand painting on fabric and explore essential techniques, while designing unique tote bags and T-shirts inspired by Palestinian heritage and colours. 11 August: Tell a Story

Bring your narrative to life with the kids in tow at the thoughtfully designed Speaking with Images with Rashid Almheiri workshop at Jameel Arts Centre. Following a tour of Jameel Library, families will work together to create stories exploring various storytelling elements such as setting, characters and themes, thereby encouraging communication, imagination and teamwork among family members.

24 August: Celebrate Adele

We may still be awaiting an Adele concert in Dubai, but the Candlelight: A Tribute to Adele hosted by Candlelight Concerts is a glowy consolation prize until that day comes. Taking place at Raffles The Palm, this live, multi-sensory musical experience  played by flickering candlelight will span 65 minutes and feature the English singer-songwriter’s biggest hits like “Hello” and “Rolling in the Deep”.
