Platinum Heritage Dubai will offer desert safaris and Michelin-star dining during Ramadan.
You may have been on safari before, but perhaps never like this. Platinum Heritage Dubai has unveiled two unforgettably luxurious desert safari experiences for the holy month, with transportation through the dunes followed by an abundant iftar feast, live musical performances and stargazing as night falls.
The Heritage Desert Safari is as much a pilgrimage through ancient traditions as it is a journey through the majestic sand dunes. There are two packages to choose from. The Heritage Safari (AED 595 per child and AED 695 per adult) giving guests a glimpse into the fascinating culture, customs and traditions of the nomadic Bedouin people. The Platinum Desert Safari (AED 1,500 per child and AED 1,950 per adult) piles on the glamour with an iftar menu crafted by a Michelin-starred chef.
The Heritage adventure begins at the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, where each guest will receive a traditional headscarf, both in accordance with local customs and to provide protection from the elements during the journey deeper into the desert landscape. Transportation is aboard a vintage Land Rover and follows in the footsteps of the Boudin people who have travelled through the Arabian desert for more than 4,000 years.
As the sun sets, dates, cheese and tea are offered to break the fast, while a Bedouin narrator shares the significance of Ramadan. An expansive iftar menu is served under the stars as night creeps in, with dishes including a hearty lentil soup and array of mezze, grilled chicken and slow-cooked lamb, and a traditional vegetable tagine for non-meat eaters. To round out the meal, sweet treats such as deserts, coffee and juices are served. Live music and a Yola performance are followed by a stargazing session, with everyone invited to look to the heavens and the stars that have guided desert tribes for thousands of years.
The Platinum Safari sees the vintage transportation upgraded to a premium Land Rover Defender. Arriving at the dining location, a stunning falconry display – falcons are deeply embedded in Bedouin culture, and have helped the Bedouin people to survive in the desert for millennia. Leaving modern transportation behind, guests will continue their journey into the desert with a camel trek. The path, lit by lanterns, leads to a luxurious private cabana, where a sumptuous five-course dinner curated by Claudio Filippone awaits.
Chef Claudio’s offering includes a choice of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern or Vegan menus. Dishes like seared cauliflower and delicate grilled sea bass are followed by shisha, a fire display, acrobatic performances and a guided stargazing experience.
