The race promises an exhilarating test of endurance for professional and amateur cyclists alike.
Ras Al Khaimah is further cementing its status as a premier destination for world-class sporting events with the launch of Jais Ride, an adrenaline-fueled cycling challenge set against the backdrop of Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest peak.
Renowned for hosting globally acclaimed events such as the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon, the UAE Tour, and the HIGHLANDER Adventure, the Emirates continues to expand its portfolio of elite sporting competitions. Towering at 1,934 metres above sea level, Jebel Jais is a haven for adventure tourism, offering stunning landscapes and unparalleled outdoor experiences for athletes and thrill-seekers alike.

Cyclists will push their limits as they ascend the legendary 25km mountain route of Jebel Jais—one of the region’s most scenic cycling routes and a recognised stage of the UAE Tour. With a new road built in 2017, the course features winding ascents, multiple switchbacks, and dramatic elevation changes, making it a favourite among endurance athletes and cycling enthusiasts.
During the race there will be strategic checkpoints and sprint segments adding an extra layer of competition, giving participants the chance to showcase their climbing skills and speed.
The race features a structured competition format with awards in multiple categories:
Sprint Segment – Green Jersey Award
A 500-metre sprint section will see the fastest rider awarded the Green Jersey.
King of the Mountain (KOM) Points
The top 20 riders at each split point (7km, 14km, and 21km) will earn KOM points, with the leader at each split receiving 20 points. Points will be allocated down to 20th place.
Polka Dot Jersey Award – Best Climber
The rider with the highest total KOM points across all three splits will claim the Polka Dot Jersey, recognising them as the strongest climber.
Yellow Jersey Award – Overall Winners
The top three cyclists to reach the summit will be crowned overall winners and awarded the Yellow Jersey.
Raki Phillips, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), expressed his excitement about the event: “We are thrilled to introduce this dynamic new cycling competition, offering athletes the chance to test their endurance on one of the world’s most breath-taking and challenging mountain roads. As part of our commitment to positioning Ras Al Khaimah as a hub for outdoor adventure and sports, Jais Ride highlights the emirate’s stunning natural beauty and diverse landscapes.”
The event will conclude with an awards ceremony, celebrating standout performances across all competition categories.
Jais Ride will take place 12–13 April, welcoming both elite and amateur cyclists from across the UAE and beyond. For more details or to register click here.
