Theatrical gastronomy and storytelling collide at the newly opened TABU.
A new Japanese restaurant has taken over the space formally occupied by Morimoto on the 23rd floor of The St. Regis Downtown Dubai.
TABU draws inspiration from Tokyo’s Yokocho (alleyway) scene which is known for its hidden bars. The new restaurant and lounge features an underground Japanese design and unexpected elements to create a strong Japanese aesthetic. TABU’s expansive outdoor terrace offers views of Burj Khalifa, accompanied by master mixology and fragrant shisha.
TABU features different staging areas and multiple acts, making Dubai’s newest restaurant more than just another ‘dinner and a show‘ experience. Entertainment is present at all times to ensure a unique experience with every single visit.
Fusing authentic Japanese flavours with a playful twist, TABU’s Executive Chef Roberto Segura (formally of WAKA) experiments with innovative culinary approaches to ensure his guests are enraptured by the unique textures and flavours of his dishes and interactive live cooking. Catering to a variety of tastes and preferences, the extensive menu comprises sushi, salads, ceviches, hot and cold starters and different steak cuts.
Diners can begin their dining experience with Chef Sushi selections, including signature nigiri, sashimi and maki rolls, followed by starters such as otoro tartare in sesame cones, sea urchin with caviar, gold gyoza with burrata and truffle, and Japanese wagyu steamed buns. Traditional Yakimono and Ishiyaki stone bowl dishes also feature, including Chilean seabass clay pot, slow-braised beef short rib, King crab leg, jumbo prawn and chargrilled avocado.
Adventurous guests can opt for TABU’s Omakase menu, featuring six or eight courses left entirely at the chef’s discretion. Beverage pairings and tasting experiences are also available for diners wishing to experiment.
Post-dinner, guests can experience a reservation-only speakeasy lounge club called ‘The Other Side’ on the 24th floor.
