UAE residents can look forward to an extended break in June, as the country prepares to observe Eid.
Eid Al Adha is anticipated to commence on 17 June, right after Arafat Day, which is expected to fall on 16 June.
That’s according to the Emirates Astronomical Society who highlighted these dates based on lunar observations, with Arafat Day – a day of great significance during the Hajj pilgrimage – signalling the beginning of Eid festivities.
The Emirates Astronomy Society also confirmed that they predict that Thursday, June 20, will likely mark the end of Tashriq and the Hajj season.
This means both public and private sector employees could potentially enjoy five consecutive days off work.
The UAE Cabinet has already approved a four-day public holiday from 16 June to 19 June to mark Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha.
Specific dates will be confirmed closer to the time, after the relevant Moon-sightings have been recorded.
