UAE confirms first day of Eid Al Fitr

The UAE’s moon-sighting committee announced that Wednesday, April 10 will be the first day of Eid Al Fitr.

This means that the last day of Ramadan will be observed on Tuesday, April 9.

The committee announced the date after the crescent moon was not sighted on Monday, April 8, an observation that traditionally signals the beginning of a new month in the Islamic calendar.

The UAE government previously declared a full week holiday for UAE residents, spanning from the 29th of Ramadan until Shawwal 3. This grants a week-long break, with the work schedule resuming on Monday, April 15.

As per tradition in the lunar Islamic calendar, the start and conclusion of Ramadan are observed with the sighting of the crescent moon.
