Prepare for a night under the stars…
Currently positioned at #45 on the World’s 50 Best Bars ranking, DIFC hotspot Galaxy Bar will celebrate World Paloma Day on Sunday, 22 May, under a canopy of stars that cast an ethereal glow over the venue.
To mark the celebration, Galaxy Bar will collaborate with Athens’ institution and Paloma authority, Barro Negro to showcase three exclusive takes on the Mexican signature cocktail in a venue specially dressed for the occasion.
The Paloma, an 80-year-old Mexican classic combining lime juice and grapefruit soda served on the rocks, was given its own celebration in 2019 with the first World Paloma Day as a way to shine a light on the beloved cocktail.
Undoubtedly the Paloma authority on the global scene, Barro Negro’s Stelios Papadopoulos will bring his art and secret touch to Dubai for the first time. Famed for creating the ‘Paloma Embassy’, Barro Negro was officially ranked 74th by World’s 50 Best Bars in 2021.
Krystian Hordejuk, Galaxy Bar’s Executive Bar Director, remembers, ‘‘I discovered Barro Negro last year during the Athens Bar Show. What impressed me at first glance was their variety of multiple agave spirits expressions – perhaps the largest selection in Greece – not to mention the best Paloma cocktail in town. I am very excited to host Stelios and his team so our guests can experience their irresistible cocktails firsthand.”
To enhance the experience and mark this chic occasion, guests will discover a one-day-only interior set-up, conceived as a poetic tribute to the meaning of the word Paloma (Spanish for ‘Dove’). Galaxy Bar’s starry night sky will be adorned with white origami Doves draped from the ceiling, among other yet-to-be-revealed surprises.
