A perfect weekend in Austin has thrown Max Verstappen right back into the title picture, as the Red Bull driver swept both the sprint and grand prix to tighten the chase heading into the final rounds.

The Red Bull driver took pole, won the sprint, and sealed victory in Sunday’s grand prix, marking his most complete weekend of the season so far. It was his third win in four races, throwing the title race wide open once again.
For much of the year, McLaren had looked untouchable. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri built a commanding lead in both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships, thanks to a consistent run from the season opener through to the end of summer.
But since the Dutch Grand Prix in August, McLaren’s momentum has cooled, while Verstappen’s results have gone from solid to dominant. No McLaren has finished ahead of him since then, and Austin only confirmed his resurgence.
Behind Verstappen, the battle for the podium was intense. Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren all had flashes of pace across the weekend, but none could match Red Bull’s consistency when it mattered most.
With five races left, including the season finale in Abu Dhabi, Verstappen’s late push has added real tension to a title fight that looked wrapped up only a few weeks ago. While McLaren still hold the advantage, the margins are now slimmer than ever. The final stretch promises high stakes and little room for error exactly the kind of run-in that could see the championship decided under the lights on Yas Island.
