The world’s longest running musical will take over Etihad Arena in April 2025.
Did you hear the people sing back in November 2016? If you missed the 15-day run of Les Misérables at Dubai Opera, now is your chance to plan ahead and catch this iconic musical in Abu Dhabi. Les Misérables The Arena Spectacular will run at Etihad Arena on Yas Island from 10 to 20 April, 2025, featuring a cast and orchestra of over 65 people.
As one of the world’s longest running musicals of all time, Les Misérables needs no introduction, but here’s a brief one. French Romantic writer and politician Victor Hugo’s classic tale is an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption — a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit.
Colloquially known as Les Mis and set in the early 19th century, it’s centered around the story of Jean Valjean. As the plot follows his journey from stealing a loaf of bread for his sister’s starving child to imprisonment, release from prison, and eventually reformation as an industrialist, the other characters are swept into a revolutionary period in France, where a group of young idealists attempt to overthrow the government at a street barricade in Paris.
Theatrical talent Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed new production of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg’s Les Misérables is currently playing across the UK as part of a world tour that will perform in over 15 countries and regions — the UAE included. Expanded from the hugely successful Les Misérables The Staged Concert, which played for over 200 record-breaking performances in the West End, this spectacular stage show has an extraordinary new design specifically created for larger venues with a cast and orchestra of over 65.
It’s all in celebration of the beloved musical phenomenon entering its 40th revolutionary year in London next year. And with a magnificent score of iconic songs such as “I Dreamed a Dream”, “On My Own”, “Stars”, “Bring Him Home”, and “One Day More”, this epic and uplifting story remains one of the world’s favourite musicals, and for good reason.
Pre-sale tickets for Les Misérables The Arena Spectacular will go on sale Monday 14 October for those who registered only, with general on-sale tickets on 17 October. Registrations are now open via etihadarena.ae.
