Museum of the Future

The future is here…

It’s the news we’ve all been waiting for. Dubai’s Museum of the Future will officially open its doors on Tuesday, 22 February 2022.

The news was announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, on Thursday.

Sheikh Mohammed hailed the architectural marvel as the “most beautiful building on earth” and stated that “2022 will be an exceptional year for our nation” when revealing the launch date on Twitter.

Set to be a centre of creativity and hope where visitors can see, touch and shape our shared future, the Museum of the Future will combine elements of exhibition, immersive theatre and themed attractions, inviting visitors to look beyond the present.

At 77 meters in height, the Museum of the Future consists of seven floors. Thanks to the latest technologies, the building floats without foundations, pillars, or columns, making its design a milestone in urban engineering. The Museum is linked by two bridges, the first extending to Jumeirah Emirates Towers and the second linking it to the Emirates Towers metro station.

Comprising of 1024 robot-made pieces, the striking 17,000 sqm exterior is illuminated with quotes from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, including “The future belongs to those who can imagine it, design it, and execute it… The future does not wait. The future can be designed and built today.”

Contrary to the concept of traditional museums based behind closed windows displaying past eras. The Museum of the Future is an incubator for innovative ideas, technology, and future projects. The Museum will provide its patrons with a set of immersive experiences, enabling them to learn about future technologies that have the potential to change people’s lives.

The park surrounding the museum contains 80 species of plants and is equipped with a state-of-the-art intelligent and automatic irrigation system.

Like our home city of Dubai, the Museum of the Future strives to be a place of tolerance where varied cultural, philosophical, social and spiritual outlooks are welcome.
