Mark your calendars because everyone’s favourite ogre is coming to Dubai.
Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film, Shrek The Musical is coming to Dubai Opera, with a total of eight shows between 21 and 26 February 2023, including weekend matinees.
The enchanting live musical will bring a series of captivating performances from all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage, proving there’s more to a story than meets the ears.
“Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek…” And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue.
Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand… and his name is Shrek.
This side-splitting comedy show will feature creative choreography, awe-inspiring backdrops and 19 additional tunes to the already popular soundtrack like I’m a Believer and Hallelujah.
Presented by Broadway Entertainment Group and Live Nation, this adaptation of Shrek is an absolute family classic and now you get all the characters you love, including a fire-breathing dragon.
Critics claim this stage version has enough razzle-dazzle and good gags to keep you entertained with a mix of pop-inflected songs that keep the adventure rolling along, and there are lots of smart subversions of fairytales and folklore. For older audience members who grew up on the film hoping for a trip down memory lane, it delivers the moments you know and love.
