UAE gets its first homegrown gourmet food truck – RARE

RARE

Homegrown concept RARE offers Japanese and Latin American-inspired cuisine.

Gourmet food trucks have been gaining interest worldwide, and Dubai can now call itself home to UAE’s first. Born out of the shared passion for food among three Emirati friends, RARE brings high-quality food in an informal setting.

The menu, crafted by Colombian Chef Brando Moros, features Japanese-influenced dishes prepared with a touch of South American flair. Typical of Dubai’s vibrant food scene, RARE’s menu uses premium ingredients carefully sourced from around the world, such as Bluefin Akami Tuna from Japan, and full-blood wagyu sourced from Mayura Station in Australia and Saroma in Japan.

Known for his specialty in wood-fire grilling, Chef Moros combines elegance and precision with bold flavours in his signature dishes that are presented with impeccable attention to detail.

Food enthusiasts can look forward to the A5 Wagyu Nakkuru, a Japanese wagyu knuckle topped with crispy shitake, mushroom powder and leeks ash. Another must-try dish is the Chocolate Wagyu Fillet served with pickled bok choi and onions, togarashi, and garlic sauce.

Other notable highlights include the traditional Japanese kushiyaki options, Wagyu Beef Tsukune, Tsukune Yakitori, Seared Japanese Tuna Akami Buddha Bowl, Wagyu Maki and Veggie Cubano. To finish your meal on a sweet note, or for a grab-and-go sugar fix, there is the Crème Brûlée Crepe Cone.

Located under Al Wasl Bridge and opposite Al Safa Park, the visually striking food truck is hard to miss. The zine stone exterior symbolises the essence of charcoal, while an inner layer of open cracks is reminiscent of the glowing embers of a lit charcoal fire. Inside lies the custom-built robata grill, serving as the heart of RARE’s culinary offerings.

Mohammed Al Qasimi, co-founder of homegrown brand RARE, said: “Our objective was to disrupt the conventional norms of upscale dining, providing individuals who crave exceptional gourmet meals with an exquisite dining experience without the constraints of dress codes and formalities typically associated with high-end establishments.”

An outdoor seating area is in the works, set to offer the option of al fresco dining in the cooler months. RARE will also announce a series of exciting community events; so it is safe to say that no two visits to this food truck will be the same.

RARE is open Tuesday to Sunday from 5pm until 11.30pm.
