Hawkerboi Supper Club

If hawker food is your MO, this is the one for you.

Scrolling through Instagram recently, one particular post caught our attention. A flickering neon sign on a black background with the word ‘Hawkerboi’ traced in an elusive red font. The Instagram caption reads, “Supper club dates dropping soon…stay tuned, limited spaces.”

While there are no shortage of supper clubs in Dubai, this concept gained momentum during the early days of the pandemic, thanks to the mystery surrounding the secret chef. Is it someone already known to the industry, a celebrity, or perhaps an unknown? Only a few people know the true identity of Hawkerboi, and they are keeping well and truly shtum!

Hosted at a series of secret locations, Hawkerboi supper clubs are known to sell out mere minutes after being announced on Instagram. When it comes to the food, you can expect a spicy eight-course experimental menu of primarily South East Asian cuisine, with each dish using fire cooking only.

Dishes presented so far have included soft shell crab doughnuts, a Singaporean inspired seafood tower, 24hr Wagyu short rib and flame thrower duck.

For the uninitiated, hawker centres house a collection of street food stalls and are most commonly found in Singapore and Hong Kong.

To book a table at the elusive Hawkerboi Supper Club, which can host tables of up to eight guests at a time, send a DM to @hawker.boi on Instagram.

So who is Hawkerboi, the food industry disruptor who is being likened to Banksy? You’ll have to attend the Hawkerboi supper club and find out…
