There’s dim sum and then some to mark the start of 2025.
Abu Dhabi’s food aficionados may be fixated on the ‘new and now’, but when it comes to dining out on weekends, the tried and tested Cantonese-inspired classics at Hakkasan Abu Dhabi remain unparalleled. Now, the Michelin-starred restaurant is launching two signature offerings this month: the Lost in Shanghai brunch and Cantonese Treasure dim sum showcase. Here’s what you need to know.
Lost in Shanghai Brunch
Transforming Friday evenings into a vibrant celebration of Chinese banqueting traditions, the Lost in Shanghai brunch is served from 6pm to 10 pm. Promising a vibrant experience centred around a shared meal, the curated menu includes standout creations such as Peking duck with caviar, unique dim sum creations like lobster lychee yuzu pearl, jasmine tea smoked wagyu beef ribs, a Szechuan-style wonton, and almond soft-shell crab.

To conclude, a curated selection of decadent desserts specifically chosen by Executive Chef Lee Kok Hua are on offer. Complementing the award-winning cuisine is a premium selection of free-flowing drinks, including signature cocktails such as the 2.0 with José Cuervo Tradicional, lychee, coconut cream, and lime, and the Tangerine Shiso Collins, a refreshing mix of Roku gin, shiso bitters, tangerine, lemon, and soda. The Lost in Shanghai Brunch starts at AED 538 per person (inclusive of free-flowing cocktails, sparkling, wine, beer, and house spirits for three hours).
Cantonese Treasure
For a relaxed yet refined Saturday midday escape, the upcoming Cantonese Treasure offering takes centre stage with its exquisite selection of handcrafted dim sum from 12pm to 3:30pm. Launching on 11 January, it will showcase the variety and richness of Cantonese cuisine. Rooted in the centuries-old tradition of yum cha, which means ‘drinking tea’ and enjoying dim sum with loved ones, the experience reflects tranquillity, humility, and the essence of connection.

Guests can enjoy an elegant selection of Cantonese delicacies, including Rainbow Har Gau, Chicken Taro Croquette, Mooli Puff, Crystal Wagyu Beef Dumpling and Abalone Croquette. The Cantonese Treasure offering is priced AED 128 for three baskets, and AED 188 for five baskets.
