The newly-opened Talea fuses traditional techniques with an innovative edge from acclaimed chef Antonio Guida.
The opulent and undeniable palatial Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi has added a new Italian restaurant to its impressive dining repertoire. Talea from two-Michelin-starred Chef Antonio Guida’s will be the culinary maestro’s first restaurant outside of Italy.
The new restaurant presents guests with a highly curated selection of seasonal and authentic Italian menus in an elegant setting with a vibrant open show kitchen. With deep roots in southern Italy’s Puglia region, Guida honed his talents in an array of celebrated Michelin-starred restaurants. In 2015, he led Seta at Mandarin Oriental, Milan to its first Michelin star just four months after opening, with a second Michelin star following shortly after that.
Talea’s menu draws on Guida’s distinctive culinary style to create “Cucina di Famiglia” – family-style cooking. From its famed ravioli, handcrafted carbonara and other pasta to artisanal pizza, the freshest salads and antipasti, creamy and irresistible burrata, ossobuco – stewed veal shanks in meat sauce, and vitello tonnato – the summer dish of chilled veal in tuna-caper sauce that forms an indispensable part of the Assumption Day feast in Milan, the gastronomic delights of Talea fuse the traditional techniques of Milanese classics with an innovative edge to present a tantalising interpretation that is the signature trademark of Guida.
The restaurant’s interiors highlight magnificent two-toned columns and walls layered with art inspired by the landscapes of Italy: ports and palaces, lakes and luxurious manors, cities and Roman ruins, embellished by jewelled lights and geometric floors. A chic outdoor terrace is also available for a decadent alfresco dining experience.
