Honeycomb Hi-Fi is from the team behind Indochine and Miss Lily’s.
A homegrown concept blending music, design and Japanese cuisine is now open at Pullman Hotel in Business Bay. Honeycomb Hi-Fi brings to life a record store and an izakaya kitchen. It is the first listening bar to open in the Middle East.
Following a swift elevator ride to the second floor of the Pullman Hotel, an authentic vinyl record store is all that seems to be present. Here, the Flip Side Record crew from Alserkal avenue have curated the finest vinyl collectables to browse or purchase. Aside from vinyl, there are also music-related books, magazines and Honeycomb Hi-Fi merchandise for sale.

From the record storefront, a set of curtains open to reveal “The Listening Room”, where the warm interior lighting brings a honey hue to the perforated wooden wall panels resembling a honeycomb. Takumi-style carpets and clean lines showcase a modern Japanese sensibility, whilst acoustic foam-covered ceilings reaffirm the audio-centric dining and drinks experience. “The Gallery” is a smaller elevated space off the main room showcasing rotating art exhibitions featuring global music cultures through the ages.
At the heart of the venue are the bespoke Ojas speakers created by Devon Turnbull. A leader in his field, Devon has built sound systems for Mark Ronson and Virgil Abloh. It is the first and only Devon Turnbull Ojas installation in the Middle East.
Outside on the terrace, “The Garden” is a nod to Japan and its green Bamboo gardens. A floating plywood bar stands elevated at the end of the terrace, where guests can enjoy waterside views of the canal through the dramatic bamboo cage grid.

The rotation of DJs and music curators will be playing everything on the turntables, from electronic to jazz, soul, and world music.
The casual Japanese menu from Chef Matt Abergel is inspired by a traditional izakaya. The sharing menu is broken down into cold/raw, hot, binchotan grill and rice/noodles sections. Signature dishes include scallop siu mai and mochi stuffed wings with yuzu chilli salt.
